Monte Julia is a family-owned business with a great tradition in the wine industry located in the Cina Valley.
The elaboration of fine wines begins with the use of grapes of the highest quality. For this reason in Monte Julia we produce all our wines with grapes from our own vineyards. The plantations were done in the best suited soils in order to obtain the highest quality grapes. All the grapes we produce are of noble varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Graciano, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Moscatel, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, etc.
The five fields were vine were planted have loamy soils, of moderate salinity, with a slightly high pH. The big temperature contrast betwen day and night, specially from the 15 of august to the 15 of september, combined with the soil factors becomes an appropiate "terroir" for quality grape growing.
The vertical courtain trellis system used favors the aireation and isolation of the grapes, reaching maturity in optimal conditions, and becoming small berrys. Small berrys are optimal for full colour, aroma and variety flavour development.
In the elaboration of wines the latest wine-making technologies are used, with the help of two winemakers. Fermentation takes place in stainless steele tanks with temperature control. Time after the wine ages from three to eighteen months in french (Allier) and american (Missouri) aok barrels, where the wines acquire a noble aging.
Our wines are of cherry red colour, bright, and with the typical aromas from their differnt varieties.
